A Peek at Next Week
Week of May 19th:This week we will end our unit on Summer. We will continue to discuss the ocean and ocean animals. We will engage in a variety of activities that focus on letter recognition and beginning letter sounds. We will participate in a variety of mimio activities that will reinforce counting, letters and number recognition. Throughout the week we will engage in a variety of activities that will emphasize development of our math, language arts and science skills. We will also work on our fine motor and personal social skills while engaging in these activities.
It’s hard to believe that this is the last week of school. It seems as if just yesterday was August. It has been a great school year! We have watched the students blossom as they became more independent, learned new skills and navigated through a variety of activities. They have learned their colors, shapes, numbers, letters and a variety of other skills throughout the year. We have enjoyed being a part of their learning experience. Thank you for sharing your children with us! We will miss them all very much. We hope you have a great summer! Ms. Ayana, Ms. Rebecca & Ms. Maureen |
SpecialsComputers:During May, we will begin working on other computer skills such as the arrow key, scrolling, and maximizing/minimizing the window. We will continue using Websites that support the instructional units of summer/ocean/beach. You can find some of these Websites on our schools Website under the Instructional button.
http://www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us/BuiceSchool/instruction.htm Media Center:It has been an honor to work with your children all year and help them to develop a love of reading. Your support at home has made my job a pleasure. Thank you to all families who supported our Spring Book Fair! I hope you were able to purchase a great book or two for your home library. This summer, you can continue to further the literacy skills your child has gained this year by participating in the Gwinnett County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, Fizz, Boom, Read! The program will run from May 12 to August 16, 2014. Kids who come by the library can get a reading log, bookmark, coupons for free treats, and other incentives. Families will be asked to set a personal reading goal. When they've met their goal, they will be given a certificate and a free book of their choice (while supplies last). All kinds of fun programs are planned this summer at your local public library, including puppet shows, science and magic, storytelling, and more!
Have a great summer and keep reading!--Ms. Karen Math Special:This week in the math lab we complete a mimio vote activity while reviewing patterns, colors, sizes, shapes and numbers.
Science Special:This week in the science lab we will continue to explore the properties of water.
